Jeff Horowitz
Jeff Horowitz is the founder of Avoided Deforestation Partners (www.adpartners.org), a global nonprofit network of prominent individuals who are dedicated to advancing U.S. and international climate policies, with particular focus on ending deforestation. ADP has become internationally recognized for facilitating partnerships between governments and corporations in order to advance efforts to produce sustainable agricultural commodities that are deforestation-free.
ADP has convened high-level forest-climate events that have featured Dr. Jane Goodall, the late Wangari Maathai, Sir Richard Branson, Ed Norton, HRH Prince Charles, George Soros, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, World Bank Presidents, heads of major corporations (e.g., Unilever, Wal-mart, Coca Cola), prominent NGO leaders, and many high-ranking U.S. government officials, from Secretary of State John Kerry to President Barack Obama.
In connection with his work at ADP, Jeff Horowitz is also a producer and story consultant for the SHOWTIME climate change docu-series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” with Executive Producers James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Weintraub. The project was created by acclaimed former “60 Minutes” Executive Producers David Gelber and Joel Bach. This nine-part program won the 2014 Emmy Award for best documentary series. For the two-part deforestation piece which ran in Years’ episodes one and two, Jeff recruited and worked with actor/conservationist Harrison Ford to serve as the “correspondent” for stories about the climate impacts of deforestation that are specifically tied to palm oil production.
Prior to establishing AD Partners, Jeff was an internationally recognized architect and a leading advocate for progressive urban and economic development policies. He directed scores of large-scale architectural projects in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America. When not engaged in an international climate conference or traveling to Washington, D.C., Horowitz and his wife Lynn own and operate Rio Lago Ranch and Vineyard in California’s Sonoma County, where they sustainably produce high-end cabernet sauvignon wine grapes. Jeff received an MA in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
